The Open and Intermediate Tournaments will be a new format in 2010. At the start of the tournament all players will be placed in a bracket of eight entrants. The winner of each eight-player bracket will qualify for the playoffs.

If a player does not win one of the initial brackets that player may re-buy into another eight player bracket for just $60 in the Open and $20 in the Intermediate retaining ones Side Pool and Calcutta equity. There will a total of five start times (three on Saturday and two on Sunday). New eight player brackets will start at the posted start times and if necessary one overflow bracket will start as quickly as possible allowing as many chances to qualify for the playoffs as possible. This will continue through Sunday afternoon until the final bracket is started at 2:00 p.m.

The Playoffs and the Consolation will begin at 5:00 pm on Sunday. The Playoffs will start with a new random draw and the losers in the rounds of 32, 16 and 8 of will be fed into the Consolation. There will also be a final day Last Chance on Monday.

A total of seven places will be paid out (four from the Playoffs, two from the Consolation, and one from the Last Chance).

The Novice and Children's Tournaments will be determined by the number of entrants but will most likely start as a round robin and finish with playoffs.

Transportation

The hotel is located in the O'Hare International Center just one mile from Chicago O'Hare Airport. The hotel offers a complimentary 24-hour hotel airport shuttle.

Driving directions from O'Hare International Airport: Head towards O'Hare from any Chicago Area highway. Once you are on I-190 W towards O'Hare, take first exit onto Mannheim Rd. North. Go to the second stop light on Mannheim Rd and turn aright at Higgins Rd. The entr4ance to the hotel is an immediate right once on Higgins Rd. Look for the Harry Caray's sign on the side of the building to your left.

Chicago Midway Airport (MDW): Approximate driving time to the hotel is 45 minutes and the distance is about 30 miles. As you leave the airport follow signs to I-55 South. Drive 8.3 miles and take exit 277A. Merge onto I-294 North and drive 16.8niles. Take the I-90/N-W Toll way exit toward I-190 W/O'Hare and follow the signs to I-190 W. Once on I-190 W follow the Driving directions below.

Tournament Conditions

THE CHICAGO OPEN is by invitation only. The Tournament reserves the right to refuse an entrant without giving any reason.

All fees paid at the tournament must be in cash.

Eligibility for all events is subject to approval and previous results.

The Open Tournament and The Memorial Day Masters will be Clocks Preferred events. The director may require clock used for a match or during a match if it is unduly holding up the tournament.

Side Events

Memorial Day Masters

$500 entry fee. 90% return. 11-point matches. Continuous to 32 entries. $200 side pool with 95% return. Clock preferred event.

Limited Jackpot

$100 entry fee. 85% return. 9 point matches. Continuous to 32 entries. $40 side pool with 95% return. No players at a championship level will be allowed to play.

Doubles Tournament

$200 entry fee per team. 7-point matches. 85% return. $50 side pool with 95% return. Clocks preferred event.

Junior vs. Seniors Tournament

Juniors are players under the age of 50 and Seniors are age 50 and over. Two places will be paid for each field with the winners playing off for 10% of the prize pool. $50 entry. 85% return. 7-point matches. Payouts will be 65% for 1st and 25% for 2nd.

Blitz

$30 entry fee. 80% return. 5 point matches. 4-player brackets. The winner of each bracket will win $50 and a seat in the playoff. The Playoff is a "Winner Takes All" event.

After Tourney Tourney

$50 entry fee. 80% return. 7 point matches. Continuous entries from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Payouts will be 70% for 1st, 30% for 2nd.
